How to use Winner's Laser Engraved Ceramic Anilox Rolls

A two-roll system consists of a rubber roll running in a fountain or ink pan and the anilox roll running in between the rubber roll and printing plate. As press speed increases, ink buildup at the nip increased, it is not only going to be in the cells, but on the surface of the roll, and will result in a dirty plate and a halloing effect on the process dot. If the press is a little worn or ink viscosity changes, we can also get a so-called gear marking effect; or, in simple terms, an increase or decrease in surface ink on an anilox roll.

What do we do?

Chambered Doctor Blade System

We put a reverse-angle doctor blade holder and blade in the system. The blade holder should be rigid to prevent deflection and all components should be machined to close tolerances so that the blade will contact the surface of the anilox roll uniformly. The desirable condition is to keep the tip of the blade on the metering roll; simply shaving the excessive ink off as it floats on the surface.

To maintain color and good tonal reproduction consistently requires a repeatable, predictable, controllable system. Following Tools are available tools to make this possible.

Doctor blades to meter ink consistently and evenly. 60o hexagonal laser engravings with thin, smooth walls that maximize blade life. Thin cell walls that enhance uniformity of ink film. Higher line screen current anilox rolls that improve print fidelity and minimize dot-gain. Lower volume engravings with compatible ink systems that achieve color while reducing ink film thickness. Ceramic Coated Rolls

A variety of ceramic materials are sprayed onto the roller surface to meet the respective requirements such as: abrasive resistance, corrosion resistance, heat-transfer resistance, electrical conductivity resistance, and corona roller.

Clean Solution

Stainless Steel Scrub Brush

The stainless steel scrub brush is a very effective cleaning tool for the operator to maintain the ceramic anilox rolls. Beware that this brush can not be applied on the chrome-plated anilox because the brush material is very hard and it will damage the chrome surface.

Easy-carrying microscopes are very handy for inspecting your anilox rolls. It can also be used for inspecting and observing the printed products, printing plates, and other objects.
